1st March 2022

The 96th birth anniversary of Sri Mrigendra Mohon  Guha was observed on 1st March 2022 at “Natun Ghar”, a home for the destitute, helpless, and elderly women adjacent to VIP Road, Krishnapur. That is run by Jagarani, an organization founded by Sri Asim Roy Chowdhury, a teacher by profession in 2016 to spread education among first-generation learners and for the development of helpless and distressed women.

In 2020, amid the horrid situation of COVID-19, Natun Ghar started its journey by providing a new home, true to its name in letter and spirit, to homeless elderly women. During our visit, we found that eight such women rescued from various places had been living there joyfully leaving behind their abominable past, as a family with abundant love, care, and attention from the organizers and the young volunteers.

Their warm and close attachment to the women deeply moved us. The organizers take upon themselves the entire responsibility of the women under their fold not only by providing food, clothing, and shelter but also by looking after their health and treatment.

On behalf of Kholo Aankhi, we gifted them an inverter with a battery to give the residents much-needed relief during load shedding which occurred there often. We also took with us new saris, Horlicks, and biscuits as a token of our love and respect.
