Sucharu is endeavoring to provide needy women with a measure of self-confidence and dignity.

Around 80 needy women are getting support of this project by doing hand embroidery and machine works. Our objective to empower women through creating avenues of earning finds support from the beneficiaries when they say that they find joy and independence in spending their own earned money for their education, for their children or for their own necessities without asking from others. This is a small leap forward.

Sucharu is enriched with varieties of products like sari, blouse piece, ladies and gent’s kurtas, hand embroidered dress materials, hankies, cushion covers and very attractive fancy ladies hand bags which are appreciated by people. We need an outlet to show case the products throughout the year.

The beneficiaries are making traditional Kantha by recycling old clothes. Our objective to empower women through creating avenues of earning finds support from the beneficiaries when they say that they find joy and independence in spending their own earned money for their education, for their children or for their own necessities without asking from others.

A Workshop on Kantha is organized as and when required at our office at Patuli as a part of a study of Folk Art for the students of St. Benedict, St.John’s University, Minnesota, USA, CSBSJU and St. Xavier’s University, Calcutta who come to India in a student exchange program. Our beneficiaries facilitate the programme.
